Banner of Labour Class 1

The
honorary title of Banner of Labour (Banner der Arbeit) was a nationally awarded medal of the German
Democratic Republic (GDR). The title was inaugurated on 4 August 1954 and was last awarded in 1989. In 1974, the award was divided into three classes each with a cash award made to the recipient.

The award of Banner of Labour was awarded for “outstanding achievements of many years which stabilised and strengthened the country, and in particular for high results of working in the national economy”.

During the time of the GDR, several workers and combines (work groups) from the UMF Ruhla Watch Factory were awarded the Banner of Labour medal:-
