Garde Ruhla.

Ladies watch “HORGA”, who is the manufacturer.Watch is old, but very small and delicate…
May 20, 2015 at 8:44 pm
It is very likely to be a Swiss manufacturer. Many Horga watches are Swiss made. Is there something that makes you think it is East German?
May 20, 2015 at 10:10 pm
Had no idea that it could have been swiss made, never heard of the company…
Thanks for the info

Hello I am reading the site trying to find information on an old watch given to me as a present many years ago. The watch name is Sumatic but I can find very little about them online and my search has landed me here. It is a lovely dress watch with a small manual mechanism and was given to me in 1971. Can anyone help please?

Hello Adam,
The only Ruhla with the name Sumatic is a small travel alarm clock. You can see the clock on the Sumatic page of my website.
There are no dress watches with the Sumatic name. You can send a photo of your watch to me at sekondtime@gmail.com and I will try to give you more information if I can.

Hello, I’ve just bought similar TV Case Ruhla watch as You have above, in pale grey. Is it possible to tell the year of production?
July 5, 2013 at 11:03 pm
Hello Andrew,
This style of Ruhla watch was made from the early 1980s onwards. If you look at my Ruhla in the Life of East German citizens page you will see a customs officer wearing one. This photo is in a book about the GDR’s customs service in 1982.

Are you “The Watch Shop”, on Amazon .ca? If so, I bought a pocket watch from you a month ago, and it is beautiful. Do you have more pocket watches? If I am wrong about who you are, I appologize .

Hello,
No this site has nothing to do with The Watch Shop or any other retailer. This is a private collection put on line for other watch collectors and enthusiasts.

This is a very good website. From it I learnt the history of the Ruhla watch and also the backgrand of the manufactory at that time. Thank you very much.

Hi
Could you please tell me the approximate value of a Saxon Black Dial with Radial Arabic Numerals watch
August 29, 2011 at 9:00 pm
Hello Russell,
Thanks for your enquiry. It is hard to give a value for this watch as I have only ever seen one and that’s the one in my collection! The value would probably be similar to other modern Saxon branded Ruhla watches which appear on auction sites relatively frequently. The Saxon watches do not appear to be as desirable as Ruhla or UMF Ruhla branded ones.

bonjour, j’aimerais connaître la date de fabrication de la montre de poche Ruhla que je viens d’acheter: pouvez-vous m’aider? Merci beaucoup!
August 3, 2011 at 6:03 pm
Bonjour Durand,
Est ce que vous pouvez m’envoyer une photo de la montre? L’email c’est: sekondtime@gmail.com.
En general, on peut vous donner une approximation car la duration de production d’une telle montre Ruhla est souvent 10 or meme 20 annees.

I have collected West End watches, an inexpensive Swiss made watch that was exported to the Indian sub-continent. Some of the Ruhla’s remind me of West Ends. Was there ever any relationship between Ruhla and West End?
May 30, 2011 at 4:52 pm
Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry. You raise an interesting question. As yet, I have not come across a West End branded watch with a Ruhla movement. However, that does not mean to say that there is not a link. Only yesterday, I cam across a Ruhla watch using a brand I had never heard of before. Ruhla exported movements and watches to be rebranded to earn foreign currency for East Germany.
If you come across some examples that you think may be Ruhlas, let me know and I will take a look.
Regards
