Ruhla – Meissen Commemorative Plaques

To commemorate milestones in the life of the Ruhla watch works and its employees, several ceramic plaques were produced by the world famous Meissen porcelain factory which was near Dresden in East Germany.

 

Meissen Plaque for Special Merits

This plaque was presented to Ruhla employees “Für Besondere Verdienste” – “For Special Merits”.

The first side shows the wording above and “Ruhla Watch Works” as well as the three bar logo. The reverse side shows a relief image of the Ruhla watch factory.

 

Meissen Plaque Commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Watch Works in Ruhla

As part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations for the Ruhla watch works, this Meissen plaque was produced together with a 125 Year Anniversary book and a recording of the Ruhla Watch Works Brass Band.

The first side of the plaque shows three interconnected watches with the wording “1862-1987 125 Jahre Uhrenwerk Ruhla DDR” – “1862-1987 125 Years Ruhla Watch Factory GDR”. The reverse of the plaque shows the relief image of an early Ruhla metal worker with the founding date of Ruhla 1161 and is surrounded by Oak leaves.
